FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOVEMBER 10, 2011

The Broken But Not Bound Movement Hits Atlanta

ATLANTA, GEORGIA NOVEMBER 10, 2011 – April Mason endured molestation at the hands of her step father, father, cousins and two female neighbors from the age of 5-17. Her life went on to be something that she wouldn’t wish on her worse enemy. By the time she was 23 she had given birth to three children, living in a shelter, low self-esteem and no self-worth.

Fast forwarding to today April Mason founded the Broken But Not Bound Movement in 2007. The purpose is to raise awareness about molestation and encourage victims to speak out about their experience. The national stats indicate that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are molested by the time they are 18. 90% of children are molested by someone close to them. Adults that have been molested are affected in many difference ways. Many will never have a successful relationship because of the molestation they’ve endured.

On December 3, 20ll at Hardy Ivy Park Downtown Atlanta, the Broken But Not Bound Movement along with Saving Our Children and Families, Inc. will be having an awareness rally from 9am -12pm.

“I want victims to know that they don’t have to remain victims. I want them to understand that it’s ok to speak out about what happened to them. No more shame or guilt because it was not their fault, it’s time to walk in freedom”, April said.

BBNB, has also partnered with the Atlanta based nonprofit Saving Our Children and Families, Inc. founded by Ms. DeQuanda Sanders. There will be a toy drive on that day for children that are victims of abuse which will be distributed by SOCAF, Inc.
